Risen from the ashes of past indifferences...Despairagon lives!!!
Despairagon is comprised of lifetime fans of heavy metal and thrash, and have culminated years of material and ideas into a new creation. The band started with Adam "Van" Vanover and Rick Lee, former members of many different local metal acts including: Degrade, File 13, After The Eighth Day, and Decadence of Divinity, which spent over two years writing and conditioning a newer form of harder thrash. Despairagon has shredded the stage with such acts as: The World We Knew, DRI, Woe of Tyrants, Mushroomhead, Mobile Deathcamp, and many more to come!
After carving steel into steel, the two have added Josh "Angelgrinder" Dickinson to provide an onslaught in vocals, and Curt Barger, an erratic, energetic bass guitarist to the fold. Now, adding a second guitarist to the epic mixture, Despairagon is ready and more than formidable to bring destruction to the music world, and provide something that hasn't been available to metal melters.
"The songs are melodic and completely driven, in the veins of 90's thrash, hardcore, grindcore, and heavy @#%$in metal. The lyrics are both disturbing, but emotionally gripping, and driven behind Angelgrinder's aggressive style.Despairagon is the mix of heavy grit, and technical style that sounds nothing like anything else right now." -quote from Columbus, OH local, during a show at the world famous Alrosa Villa.
In 2012, things were screeching to a hault with then singer, Angelgrinder, and his departure from the band. Personal problems plagued the vocalist, and caused an inevitable separation. Guitarists Van and Cory Allen decided to take over the vocal reigns, while no vocalist seemed in sight for the band.
After working dilligently for over two years conditioning and writing, the band has finally added the immense vocal talents of Gunther Helfrich, well known in the MId Ohio area. Gunther's searing power and blistering versatility have already created a buzz, and a thirst to finally hear the emergence of the debut record "Forcing Our Hell Back", which has been haulted since 2012.
2014 is looking to be the breakout year for Despairagon..stay tuned!
