Colly C / Bio

What can i say Y'all, Big dreams from a small town outside of Boston, I always knew the entertainment industry was where I was headed. 3 things in life I love the most; Music, Basketball, and the pursuit of financial well-being($!Money!$). I started writing lyrics as early as 11 years old, and in high school was lead singer in 2 heavy metal style bands. Eventually I moved on to strictly hip hop music, for reasons only my mother could appreciate, haha. From there, I attended Curry College outside of Boston, performing as much as i could and also battling other MC's on campus. Gaining recognition rapidly, i placed first in a 2006 rap contest for "Teen Empowerment" in Boston, with a song I provided made to inspire the inner city youth. Shortly after, I was unfortunately involved in a bad run-in with johnny law, and my college experience forever changed from there on(check out "True Story"). Leaving college early is difficult for some, but it presented me with a new opportunity to make a major move to NYC. I left Mass for NY to attend a performing arts school in Manhattan, it was there where i found my niche for making catchy music. In my dance class,(Hated at first lol) I made a song about the class and quickly became a school-wide hit, eventually becoming an assignment that we made a music video for,(check out "Movement Class".) It was also in school where i met Ms. Andrea Hannaway, a very talented, one of a kind style Irish girl with a smooth but rugged Soul driven sound. Our first collaboration, "Just Wait," is set to be released this coming Fall. Living in NYC, struggling to make ends meet, was extremely difficult but during that time won 3 Rap Contests in Brooklyn at the 509 Grand Avenue Bar(Check out "Survival".) I then began to work on the major project "White Boy Dancin'"(released on iTunes.) <------ Work was hard to come by in the cut-throat city and I began to run out of money. At the end of my rope, malnourished and beyond stressed, I wrote the song "Recession Rich" in my tiny one bedroom apartment. Not giving in to being Broke, conceding to doubt and accepting failure, I went all out with this song and in March '11, shot a music video in Los Angeles. The song and Video are set to be released in 2012 The New York experience has taught me more than I could ever read about and I am thankful for each and every opportunity that has been placed before me. I thank you for your intrigue and hope to see you at the next show....and remember "Shoulders only Babyy!!!!"
