In 1984, Ricky Adams was born In Raleigh NC, to Darlene Adams and Rodney Christmas.
At an early age, Ricky was played around with his musical gift, but he was known for his skills on the basketball court, and later moved to Laurinburg NC where he played for the Laurinburg institute.
After being introduced to Jon Won, who was then the CEO of Yard Style Entertainment, Ricky began taking his lyrical gift a little more serious and recorded his first single, and from then on was known as "Da Rula".
When asked how he earned the name "Da Rula" Ricky stated, "I am the ruler of my self and my own thoughts, and I'm a leader and not a follower".
Since then Da Rula has suffered all types of setbacks in which he always seems to overcome, and he stated that "These things inspire my music and describes who I am and where I am in life.
Da Rula is now working with Dark South Records Inc. and has again teamed up with Jon Won who is currently the CEO this company.
With the help of Young Rae, CEO of Young Rae Beats and Raleigh based producer J-RUSS, Da Rula says he's going to bring back to Hip Hop what it's missing...and that music with a purpose and meaning.
Da Ruler has a versatile Style, that has no limits, and sometimes surprises himself. He says its the beat that leads him.
Da Rula is now preparing to do a few collaborations with other Dark South Records artist, and also a few artist from Raleigh NC including Cash from the group Roc & Cash, and singer Shaun Lamont.
You can find Da Rula's music on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Rhapsody, Napster and more, and the album is expected to be released by the end of the summer.
