Albert William Coston III (born March 16,1983) better known as Green Leaf is a producer from Killeen, Texas, who adopted Cleveland, Ohio as his hometown in 1988.While entertaining his early interest Green Leaf attended "The Cleveland School of the Arts" majoring in the Visual Arts, but intrigued more by film scores and background music he began to stray away from his childhood dream of becoming an architect. Expressing his musical fascination Green Leaf would "beat" on cafeteria tables while his peers would engage in a rap cipher. Although gaining popularity due to these ciphers, Green Leaf's musical void would be fulfilled with countless hours in his uncle's recording studio where his cinematic/street style of music would become "marketable" for Cleveland's local rap veterans.
After relocating to Jasper, Alabama, Green Leaf faced commercial success when a "Leafy Track" was requested to be on a Quickstar Productions Compilation CD. The track entitled "She Do It" which contains a provocative screwed sample from Jasper, Alabama's Veto tha Hoodboss's "Oh Yeah" off his 2008 "Back fo Mo" mixtape was chosen for the Urban Underground Compilation. After obtaining mid summer radio play for a leaked track entitled "Swerve" by Dirty Texas (ft. Veto tha Hoodboss) another Jasper artist, Green Leaf remained confident that music production was his destined career. " With an increased dedication and a disciplined work ethic I know Green Leaf Instrumentals will secure success in 2010" said Green Leaf. He then continued to provide his signature tracks to Alabama native artist's as well as artist from his hometown.
Now back in his hometown (Cleveland, Ohio), Green Leaf has secured some success which came in 2011 with his first placement on a commercially released mixtape. Former Sony recording artist Ray Cash's "Champagne Talk" mixtape hosted the track entitled "Crawlin" which featured Lil D and Houston native Paul Wall. The bouncy banger contained a sample from Green Leaf's childhood friend Kingpin Sin's "Why U Starin" single. "After hearing two of my favorite artists rapping over a "Leafy track" I was super excited. Success is indeed a drug, and it had me looking for my next hit" explains Green Leaf.
After providing his sound to several artists in and out of state Green Leaf encountered a new addiction, videos. His first released cameo on Kingpin Sin's "The REAL Crawlin" fueled the fire for several cameos including "Motherfucking Right" by Cleveland artist Nard Dibi, which contained samples and a verse from the late Notorious B.I.G.. Other projects including Nard Dibi's "Black Hippie" and Kingpin Sin's "So Attractive/Clean Fresh & Poppin" also harbor cameos of the rising producer. " Visual art has been the foundation of self expression in my life, so to have the opportunity to unite that with my second passion is a beautiful blessing. Plus its promotion"! Green Leaf exclaims.
Now with 2013 approaching Green Leaf finds his cinematic sound being utilized in Buffalo, New York's, Zell Gaymon's short film soundtrack entitled "A Night's Rush". "When Ez called and asked me to whip up something again I was nervous and excited at the same time. We had done a previous collaboration entitled "Acknowledge", which ended up being chosen as the trailer for the film, so that was my first film placement. The difference was this new composition would be specifically for the film. Composing movie scores was my original dream, so I'm like its game time now, am I ready"?
"I'm grateful for the artists I've had the pleasure of working with and the talents that J.C. has blessed me with. My only goal now is to feed my business more success and watch it grow" says Green Leaf.
