Ashling Cole, or as her adoring fans call her – “BISCUIT” is one of the most dynamic vocalists the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer. Her soaring voice and unparalleled professionalism make her a first call talent in the arena of R&B, funk and gospel.
This past year, Biscuit spent most of her time performing and touring with legendary bassist, Larry Graham. She was asked to join Graham Central Station in February 2010 and has been touring with them ever since. The tour started in her hometown of San Francisco at The Regency Ballroom, where she was embraced by hundreds of loyal GCS fans, then they headed to Europe and Japan.
When Prince announced Graham Central Station would be part of his Welcome 2 America Tour, they had no idea highlights would include festivals in France and Belgium for crowds topping 60,000, then a packed house at Madison Square Garden.
GCS continued to rise with appearances last year at the historical North Sea Jazz Festival and Montreux. Needless to say, this exposure is expanding Biscuit's brand far beyond the Bay Area. The world is quickly finding out what we already know around these parts – that Biscuit is a star!
Graham Central Station will be releasing a new album in September 2012!!!
Biscuit’s chops did not appear overnight. Many years spent with the San Francisco Girls chorus, then through her formative years with The Academy of Media and Theatre Arts and A.C.T. provided her with an array of skills including music theory, sight reading, dance and comprehensive actor training that have helped her remain versatile and in demand. It was only a matter of time before her talent was broadly recognized and after guidance from her friends in Digital Underground, an audition with Interscope Records executives Jimmy Iovine and John McClain set her on her way.
Biscuit continues to work with an all-star roster of Bay Area musicians Wilton Rabb, Brian Braziel, Jimi McKinney, and Dave Council in their own band, “3 Piece and a Biscuit”. Check your local listings for, It Must be Magic”, 3PB’s musical tribute to Teena Marie.
"With the passing of Teena Marie leaving a huge gap in the hearts and ears of funk fans globally, Biscuit’s tribute to Lady T stems from a lifelong admiration and appreciation for soul music’s most innovative underdogs. Biscuit embodies, quite naturally the charisma and passion of Lady T and as soon as she hits the stage you will agree, no one is more qualified and ready to accept the passing of this torch."
