Don (E.M.F. Black formerly EMFinite Black) Williams was born in Queens, New York. At the age of 16 he was one of three in the rap group dubbed FELLOWMAN. Due to creative differences, he went to explore a solo career and was able to successfully open 3 shows in North and South Dakota for Cash Money’s own, Juvenile. E.M.F. (Every Man Fears) Black formed his own crew from the New York area together they were known as The MARXMEN.
Through his trials and tribulations in the music industry, he remains focused and acquired some knowledge of the business along the way. With that in mind, he continues to do most of his bookings for various appearances. A jack of all trades he has produced concerts (BLACKSTEELZ N FRIENDS annual concert) as well as co-hosted internet radio shows on “The MARXMEN Radio” and “It’s A GO RADIO”. He continues to build his art as an actor and operates as a freelance barber. As a former Executive/model for urban apparel HOODTUFF CLOTHING and CEO of JADAS RECORDINGS he is honing his business skills. In the midst, E.M.F. has been paving his way through the streets by appearing on up and coming DJ’s mix tapes such as DJ LEXX, DJ TORRES, DJ PF CUTTIN, and is also making his rounds to labels and on the streets selling his mixtapes entitled “Trialz & Tribulationz”.
From the New York underground circuits to other parts of the country, many have felt the presence of E.M.F. Black, what he calls “a mixed pot of gumbo” because the ladies love him like LL Cool J, he keeps it gutter like Buckshot da BDI, and his tales are flashy like Slick Rick. Audiences that have seen his performances realize that they have been treated to a hip-hop show the way it was meant to be and is filled with passion and respect for the past and those who paved the way for him.
As the male half of the first ever male/female rap duo, Blacksteelz went on to win all showcases in the tri-state area and took home “Best Rap Duo of the Year” at the Underground Music Awards. The duo volunteered and performed for such organizations as Lifebeat’s Hearts and Voices, coordinated Christmas events with Toys 4 Tots and raised awareness of breast cancer in their community.
E.M.F. Black made a name for himself while performing as Blacksteelz in the independent circuit having performed at venues such as Madison Square Garden (NYC), Crash Mansion (NYC), The Triad (NYC), SOB’s (NYC), Webster Hall (NYC), The Times Square Arts Center (NYC), Southpaw (Bklyn, NY), Von King Park (Bklyn, NY) with 98.7 Kiss FM, BB King’s (NYC), Sputniks (Bklyn, NY), and more throughout the U.S. He also performed with such artists as Graph, Sha Stimuli, Naughty by Nature, ICE T, Mr. Cheeks, Craig G, Smif n Wesson (Tek n Steele), and Faith Evans while with Blacksteelz.
