A combination of endurance and tenacity will you get you far in a business that thrives off instant gratification and the next big things. No one knows this better than Thin Ice aka Frozone aka Chef-Boy-R-Freeze, aka Coolhand Clink aka Abraham Clincoln. This young man has developed a number of worthy affiliations, including Ice Water Inc., a connection that came to fruition after a stellar opening act for the Wu-Tang clan the night of Raekwon’s birthday. “We did a little curb side acapella for Raekwon and Ghostface of our favorite song ‘MVP’ and we got an instant response from Ghost to the point he went back on the tour bus to get Raekwon for an encore performance.” Now one half of Ice Bros, soon to be under the umbrella of Raekwon’s Ice Water label, other offers from Ghostface Def Jam, to invitations to appear on BET’s popular music series, 106 & Park have rolled in. That leaves a lot to be said about the Tar Heel raised artist. Born in South Carolina, Clinkscales spent an overwhelming amount of his youth devoted to the craft. With a whopping 12 years under his belt at the age of 13, he has used his skills to garner local support for his group T.Y.G., Throwed Young Gangstaz. Although their groups consists of many members, a strong five (Tre Quad, Dough Bio, Buttah Mayne, Devils Ave, including Ice himself) take the forefront. Along with other performance opportunities for industry favorites like Bun B and Plies, Ice nurtured the necessary skills that would separate him from an enormous bunch. He does his own production, audio engineering, graphics and web pages. To no surprise, his influences list notable producers like J.Dilla and artists with charismatic mouth pieces like Ludacris. Sticking true to the Southern charm, Ice has remained humble and preemptive in reaching his goals, mastering the very skill that breeds the best of them: patience... Wait and see..
