Ginger Kid formed in 2010 in Brooklyn, New York. The band is Erin Young from Colorado (lead vocals), Nick Herron from California (guitar, vocals), Jamie Mohamdein (bass, vocals) and Colin Hooker-Harring (drums, vocals), both from Pennsylvania.
In 2008 Young and Herron met briefly in NYC at a Thanksgiving dinner but didn't meet again until one year later in 2009. In early Spring of 2010 they decided to form Herron and Collins and the two began to play acoustically at open mics around the city. Shortly thereafter they went electric and met their first drummer, Ryan Scarborough, and changed their name to Ginger Kid. In December 2011 Scarborough amicably left the band and Ginger Kid soon united with Jamie and Colin for a complete band line-up. They currently perform around the New York City area.
The group is influenced by an eclectic variety of music including pop, rock, folk, jazz, blues, classical, and hip hop.
