Hello! My name is Shane Russell. I am a drummer/singer/keyboardist/acoustic guitarist currently with the Mickey Utley Band. My musical life began around age 3 when my parents put me in front of the TV. Hee-Haw was on and they noticed I was beating the floor in time with the music. They gave me plastic pots and wooden spoons and I officially started playing "drums"! At age 9, I started sitting in with borrowed drums in my dad's band. We would do private parties etc. and eventually church bands. On the side, I was getting a rock band together with two of my best friends. I was also the church drummer for 20 years. Growing up, I would get involved with leading the church special singing, playing fairs in my rock group, and writing music in my spare time. By 23, I was in various gospel, rock, and Christian singing groups. When I got a little older, I began playing in clubs and traveling the southeast, with a great bunch of guys in BLISS, playing everywhere from Nashville, Memphis, Shreveport, Panama City, Gulf Shores, to Tupelo, Monroe, and hundreds more cities rocking out. I have always been a drummer and piano player as well as a singer but now I am tackling guitar. It is slow, but very interesting. After Bliss slowed down from 100's of shows a year to a handful, I decided to tackle a solo project. I bought some studio gear and began writing/recording. Soon after, 17 songs were written and I began the album ESCAPE. I wasn't satisfied with the results so I purchased a better recorder. It worked out well and I narrowed the songs down to 12. I finished the album June 1st, 2010. A new project of Escape was done in 2011 and arrived in November. It is for sale at iTunes.com, Walmart.com, Rhapsody.com, and many more outlets worldwide! Now that I have moved to Nashville, TN, I have been touring the country with some great musicians! I am writing a new album now for 2013/14 to push for publishing on my own here in Nashville. Stay tuned for an amazing year of beautiful scenery, music, and love here in the Music City!
