"“He’s got the goods,” say a lot of Gary’s musician friends. He’s been told that the richness of his voice is equal to the voices of some of his favorite personalities like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Perry Como and Englebert Humperdinck. Gary doesn’t try to be an impersonator, but his exceptional singing ability and voice quality enables him to do something unique and very special. He is capable of performing a truly realistic tribute to all of his favorite artists.
Gary has been singing as long as he can remember. His parents and relatives have recalled that at 6 years old he would perform the hit songs of Frankie Lane and Johnny Ray. At the age of 12, he was singing on local television stations in Des Moines, Iowa where he was born and raised. At the age of 15 he won the very first Iowa Statewide Talent contest hosted by a well known Iowa personality, Bill Riley. After graduating from high school, he moved with his parents to Phoenix, Arizona where he continued for several years performing on television with a local personality Charlie Aaron, private parties and a new dinner club named “The Embers” on Camelback Road.
After he was married, he and his wife moved to the Los Angeles area where he spent the next 25 years entertaining at private parties, wedding receptions and social clubs. He has performed at every major hotel in the Los Angeles area including the Beverly Hills, Century Plaza, Beverly Hilton and Disneyland, just to name a few.
One of his most memorable events was at a lofty mansion in the Hollywood Hills, for a birthday party of one of the original crooners, Rudy Vallee. Gary recalls what an amazing feeling he got upon entering a large dining room of about 75 people, he recognized every face from movies or television.
Gary feels blessed to have been given the voice and the ability to perform the music he loves so much. He says when he is on stage performing his interpretation of this great music, he is sharing his intimate feelings and expressing the essence of who he truly is.
Being a musician himself may play a part in how well trained his voice really is or maybe just the fact that he has been singing since he was 4 years old. Any way you look at it, sit back, relax and enjoy “the goods” as he moves his audience with the music of his favorite artists.
