south•ern drawl [n. suhth-ern drawl]
A perceived feature of some varieties of spoken English, generally indicating longer, more relaxed vowel sounds. Varieties of southern drawl are said to be found in, but not limited to, Southern American English, Californian English, and Australian English. Much like the Southern Drawl Band, it is said to be one of the most distinguishable regional accents within the United States. Much like it's derivative name, Southern Drawl Band is a melting pot of sound and attitude. Defined in categories like Country, Southern Rock, Trop Rock/ Reggae, Blue Grass, and Americana; Southern Drawl Band attracts listeners everywhere. Upon seeing their performance, you will understand why they are becoming the Southeast's premier entertainment band. Bringing their own brand of music entertainment and high energy performance, Southern Drawl makes every audience member feel like a part of the show.
Southern Drawl Band was created by lead vocalist Mike Nash and drummer Larry Dunsmore in May of 2011. Percussionist Melanie Howe (Djembabe) was added the following February in the midst of recording their first album, "Against the Grain". Bassist Daniel Brown was added to the lineup in April of 2012 and the package was complete. Having been together for less than a year, Southern Drawl Band quickly became one of the top drawing acts in Knoxville with fans and club owners alike. Leaving many folks asking "where did these guys come from?". With combined stage and performance experience of close to a century; they credit strong work ethic, collective knowledge in many genres, and their love for the music to their success. A heartfelt appreciation for the fans for this seemingly "fast" rise up the ladder is regularly recognized. "If you're doing it for the love of the music, you can't go wrong".
