One Man Train Wreck was started by Jeff Ness in 2009 in Spokane, WA as a place to focus his songwriting and desire to play music between band projects.
Born in Bozeman, MT in 1979, Jeff spent all of his free time on his grandparents ranch outside of Cardwell, MT even after moving to WA state at the age of seven. There he helped with the cattle, fixed fences, drove trucks and tractors, and most importantly learned the art of resourcefulness from his grandfather.
During high school in Spokane, he became increasing disassociated with the status-quo and what everyone else expected of him and dove head first into the punk rock scene. Frequenting local shows and hitch-hiking around the western U.S. he picked up a love for music and the d.i.y. ethic.
After some travelling which included nights in several jails Jeff returned to Spokane and formed the punk/surf band the Coffin Kings as frontman. He then was guitarist for various punk bands including the Grant County Thrillers, the Swallows, and Captain Red Beard & the Drip. His first stint as a one man band was electric guitar fueled punk rock band Jeff Ness & the V.D. whose content matter ranged from necrophilia, hookers, drugs, v.d.'s, and anything else that might offend someone anyone, and everyone.
The next project turned Jeff down the dirt road toward roots music and was called the Chart-Toppin' Hits and featured him first on acoustic guitar and later on upright bass. This project shed a member and continued as the Rapscallion Road String Band. After a failed tour attempt and band blowout we come to the first incarnation of OneManTrainWreck comprised of a couple country-fied versions of V.D. and RRSB songs.
Since it's inception in 2009, OMTW has remained active playing open mics and gigs even through stints as lead guitarist for local punk rock band Mutant Strain and playing upright for a local "blackgrass" band bent on selling out.
Due to lack of local musicians sharing punk rock roots and outlaw mentality Jeff decided to for the first time make OMTW his primary focus in the spring of 2012. He is now spending the fall and winter writing, honing, and recording his first album: "Two-Bit Whores Are Three-Bit Chores" and gearing up for his first national tour in the spring of 2013 supporting Zebrana Bastard from Tacoma, WA.
Over 13 years of playing Jeff's bands have opened for Moral Crux, John Doe from X, the Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, James Hunnicutt & the Revolvers, the Meteors, Ghostwriter, the Nekronauts, the Goddamn Gallows, the Whiskey Wailers, the Vibrators, Rum Rebellion, Hard Money Saints, Charlie & the Valentine Killers, J.B. Beverly and the Wayward Drifters, Three Bad Jacks, Big John Bates & the Voodoo Dolls, Stupid in Stereo, Hot Roddin' Romeos, and hundreds of others.
