Born in Rhode Island into a drum and bugle corps family,Dean began playing drums almost from birth. At 16,Dean became part of the RI Matadors Senior Drum and Bugle Corps. As the lead Timbale soloist he helped the Matadors place 4th in the DCA World Championships. In June of 2000,Dean was honored by the Matadors by becoming inducted into their Hall of Fame. Dean enrolled at Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music majoring in Percussion Performance, Songwriting and music production. Dean began studying Jazz/Fusion drum set with greats like Lenny Nelson,Bill Norine and Gary Chaffee.
After drumming in several local club bands,Dean had the opportunity to sub for Prairie Prince with "The Tubes" on an east coast leg of a tour before drumming in Robert Tepper's touring b and (of No Easy Way Out from Rocky IV fame) where he played with Mike Ward of the Wallflowers. He was then approached to provide a solo drum performance at the LA Marathon, and perform in the Hollywood Christmas Parade.
Dean opened Studio * in Woodland Hills CA and began engineering,recording and playing drums for a multitude of local bands. In 1994,Dean was chosen to perform drums on a Burger King ad filmed for airing in the UK. In 1995,Dean was selected from over 200 international entries for an arrangement he did of "Cry Baby" by Todd Rundgren on the tribute CD"Still There Is More- a Tribute to Todd Rundgren"
Not long after that, "The World Chart Show" the world's largest syndicated radio show outside the US,picked up Dean's music as production bed tracks. Dean went on to record original musical scores for production libraries "Tunedge" and "SuperCharger" by Brandon D'Amore Productions before developing his own original production library "Fast Track"
Dean signed on with Paramount Studios for world wide distribution on the Entertainment Tonight Show, where his works were extensively played. For over 15 years,Dean's music and drumming has been played on such notable shows as The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,Daily 10,Sizzling Summer,E! True Hollywood Stories,Talk Soup,Dr.90210,Huff,Sports Talk Live,Playboy Channel,Beyond The Glory,Wild On,Celebrity Adventures,Search Party,Food and Wine,Style and E! 10th Anniversary Party Show. Dean's song "Labyrinth" which he wrote and recorded, on "The Big Bang Theory" album was chosen to be in a documentary called "Solid Bodies the Movie-The 50 Year Guitar War". Throughout his time Dean has written,
recorded and produced five independent albums ranging from instrumental jazz to alternative rock.
Today Dean lives in sunny Florida with his wife and two dogs. Dean divides his time between recording new original scores for film and television in his home studio and teaching the ropes to new drumming hopefuls.In addition to all this he is an active musical member of The Ft. Pierce Jazz and Blues Society and the drummer for the following bands; "Ben's Revenge","McCartney Mania",Dave Anthony aka "Delta Dave and The Lagoon Squad","Rosie Malone"and"Rappture".
