Here's a little history about Jonathan Rigby.
T the age of 7,got to hang out back stage at the Okeefe Center in Toronto with Margot Fontayne and Rodolf Nureyev while training in Classical ballet..a first look at the stagelights.
Recieved a Zenon acoustic guitar for christmas, messed with tuning keys and later that night, the bridge gave way...no guitar for awhile!
Would rather play hockey than seriously study Classical dancing..end of ballet career.
Later at 13 years of age, saw Jimi Hendrix after family moves to new surroundings Vancouver,B.C.Sees hippies down on 4th tripping out...went to the B-in at stanley park and for sure Rock'n roll was now numero uno for this life.
Rented a white Les Paul custom from Tartini's music, got himself a fuzzbox and as they say,"the rest is history"
Well not a"well known history" but still an interesting one..
The first real band was at the age of 25 and the songs were Bowie,Sex Pistols, the Ramones ,Stones and the like...sported a long coat of ringlets, bangles and lizard shoes at this time.
Later found out where all this started and really discovered the blues...Still there was always an acoustic[now prefering Spanish]guitar arond and lots of those minor and diminished chords floating about.
Every few years would record some neat stuff at some good studios along with some great musicians. Also is now being well known at many good blues jams to put on a "helluva show" and be a reliable professional.
Lived in spain for while and played "Soleares"in the gypsy caves at Sacramonto near Granada and brings home a lovely hand made guitar from one of Granada's best luthiers
Spends time in the Missisippi delta, home of the blues and goes to pay homage at Muddy's cabin.Went to New Orleans, had dinner at Brennans and then later in Helena, did an interview on King Biscuit Flour Hour where they played a couple of my recent Zydeco flavoured tunes.
Lately has been spending playing time"between the higher voltage "johnny and the Kingbees "blues band and quiet little acoustic solo shows at restaurants and coffee houses.
Is also the proud father of wee Brian Rigby, soon to be 5 ,loving husband to Susan and just recently arrived with family in tow on Vancouver island near Victoria.
Spending professional playing time both on the island and the mainland where the many musical friends help out when needed.
Hopes to get back in the studio very soon and find some professional interest in my music and playing abilities..
Has recently ordered some new flamenco ensciptions from Spain, acquired a 2010 Vos Les Paul '58 in butterscotch that really rocks and finished all those amp mods we've been working on for the last year...
Sounds like there some more history coming....
Thanks for looking!
