Since forming in early 2003, Sickpig delivered metallic hardcore that were equally powerful and melodic, and with this music style the band had started what would become the foundation of their sound.
As the band continue to create new songs, the band's technical side continues to evolve as well. Guitarists Mark Yepes and Jeff Macasaet are creating riffs that works incredibly well with each other, giving each song a soul, a definite characteristic. Geno Arguelles, the band's drummer, strengthens the band's songs through his punishing metal and hardcore drum style. Geno's drumming style has always awed and impressed audiences and fellow bands alike. Sickpig's bassist Jesse Hapa is the foundation of the solid sound of the band. Ruvel Abril, Sickpig's vocalist completes the identity of the band. From low-guttural voice to high-pitched shrieks, he can express anger, disappointment, or even grief just by changing the tone or the intensity of his scream. Although his lyrics seem to be hopeful and positive, Ruvel believes in embracing the dark times of our lives to fully understand what life is all about. After all, every day starts with light and ends with the dark.
Just like a real family, Sickpig has encountered numerous issues, both internal and external. But as the members grow up, they learn to understand that pain and acceptance of reality is a big help to keep moving forward. Sickpig was never gone and will never die.
