Nightly Standard / Bio

Nightly Standard has been illuminating stages for the past two years, sharing their truly distinctive sound with audiences throughout the Pittsburgh music scene. The group’s renowned first performance included an avant-garde surrealist art film by their three-piece horn section entitled “Liquid Saxophones and the Absurd.” Nightly Standard immediately decided to forgo the art film genre, and with that, the Pittsburgh music scene was ready to embrace this unique seven-piece group. The genre-bending sounds of Nightly Standard are comprised of a soulful, powerful vocalist who propels audiences through songs like an inked Nina Simone, a rhythm section whose very eclecticism is only surpassed by the structure of their musical complexities, and, of course, the three-piece, hyper-surrealist horn section. Some say soul, some say rock, others say pop… Nightly Standard humbly describes the music they play as a polyphony of musical styles and experiences.
