Terra Legato was formed in 2010 when drummer/vocalist Sean T. contacted onetime band mate, keyboardist/vocalist Bill Hussung from the cover band Patriarch, about starting a new project. Shortly thereafter, Sean saw Matt Spivack performing as lead vocalist/flautist/rhythm guitarist in the band he was then a part of, Generation Bridge. He was asked to come in for an audition as a bassist/vocalist, after which he was inducted into the band, at the time christened Fluid. After writing and playing live as a three piece for a few months, it was decided that something else was needed for their music, a full-time guitarist, ideally one that could also sing in the high register. Matt called upon Kody Little, the lead guitarist/vocalist and co-founding member of Generation Bridge, to fill the role. With the introduction of this final element, the identity of the band shifted a bit and so a name change was in order. After much deliberation, Terra Legato was decided upon, taken from the Latin word for “Earth”, and a Latin term in music meaning “to play with fluidity”, leaving the band’s name to roughly translate as “Fluid Earth.” Terra Legato is creating rock music to span the gap between classic and modern, progressive and accessible, at once making themselves both hard to define and easy to enjoy, eclectic enough that no one genre can properly represent them, grounded enough that they don’t loose track of their roots. They are in the process of recording their first full-length album, Oil And Water, and constantly writing new material.
