Listening to Brenyama is like taking a surrealistic trip on a time machine, bringing back musical treasures to the modern day.
The songs are brought to life by the beautifully enchanting vocals of Maki, from Miki City Japan. As the songs unfold Maki holds the beat down using an array of instruments that she has found along her journeys. The back drop of Brenyama is then set by the echoing sounds of Richard's soulful guitar playing. Richard's backing vocals also lend brilliant contrast and undertones to the mix. Luiggi sets the vibe with his imaginative bass lines. Brian Fahey then adds blistering drum lines to hold it all together.
With many inspirations, Brenyama's songs range from 60's, Acoustic Rock,Garage, Chip tunes, and even 80's new wave. Brenyama then adds its own unique lyrical topics, and experimental instruments, bringing you a fresh new vintage sound. These are the kind of songs you can love right away and carry with you forever.
The first single "Something Special" B/W "Never Walk Alone" was released on April 30th 2011,Followed by their first EP of home recorded songs June 2011, with the title "The Hot Bed Of Fine Squid" has had a great reception among local artists and fans.
Their Second EP "Pop Fusion" is an excellent collection of electric songs recorded with their new drummer Alex and Victor on Bass. "Pop Fusion" was recorded at Frankensound Studios with professional engineer Vince Carducci. This EP shows the diversity of Brenyama as it encompasses "60's", "Garage Rock", and even adds elements of "Chip Tunes"using a GameBoy Color sound engine as an instrument. Needless to say all involved in the project are very excited with the results and this release is worth your while tuning in!
