T. ROY TAYLOR / Bio

I am Native American Choctaw and Cherokee. At age six I played my first guitar. On the weekends, my grandparents would put their cars in a circle in the cotton fields of TX., turn on their headlights, turn their radio stations on the same country &western station, put me in the middle and dance. My first stage debut! My uncle, Ken Williamson, use to come over to our house in Levelland, TX. with his guitar and amp and play songs in our living room. When my parents would tell me and my three younger brothers that Ken was coming over and was bringing his electric guitar and amplifier to sing and play, I could hardly wait to sit down in the living room floor in front of him and listen to him play Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry or other songs that were popular during that time that he played. Ken, my uncle, was my first major inspiration to learn to play guitar. Dad bought my first electric guitar at age thirteen. I put together a band in high school and was playing every weekend at a gig. I went into the Navy and after Vietnam, I was back in the States playing again.
In 1998, I was introduced to Arthur Barrow by Johnny Hawthorn, a fellow musician. I began recording, Solutions, a ten track CD, which I wrote, arranged and produced. I recorded and mixed most of the tracks in ARTHUR BARROW's Lotek Recording Studio in Mar Vista, Ca. Art was bass player and bandleader for the late Frank Zappa.
Art Co-Produced Solutions with me and played bass guitar, clavinet, hammond organ, and lead guitar on five of the ten tracks recorded.
(In 1987 Art helped arrange and played all but guitar on the Mega Grammy Award winning hit, "Take My Breath Away", the title track for Tom Cruise's movie "TOP GUN".) Art has also performed with Joe Cocker, The Motels, Janet Jackson, Billy Idol, Diana Ross, Irene Cara and others (See Arthur Barrow on Google).
Art also happened to have worked and performed with the legendary Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame lead guitarist of THE DOORS, Robby Krieger! On June 22, 2004, Robby, Art, and myself met at Art's recording studio, Lotek Recording, in Mar Vista, Ca. next door to Venice Beach. There, Arthur Barrow produced Robby on my first track, Mr. Cool Demeanor, which I wrote and arranged. Robby performed some amazing electric slide guitar work on this track which was phenomenal! What an amazing human being and musician he is! Thanks to Robby and Art, that song went to Number Three on Revolution Radio's Top 40 Charts in London England, and remained there for ten consecutive weeks!
I have also enjoyed the blessing of performing at the DARRELL MANSFIELD Gospel and Blues Society PRO JAM at the Main Street Restaurant in Yorba Linda, Ca. (owned by Mike and Lynn) alongside California Blues Hall of Fame artist DARRELL MANSFIELD and the legendary guitarist - ERIC TURNER.
On 09-04-11, I was notified that one of the songs from my CD Solutions, Got A New Life (five years later after it's release), was nominated as song Number fifteen on James Banfield's "TOP 25 SONG LIST OF THE YEAR" at IndieGospel.org.
Got A New Life was also on "James Banfield's TOP 10 Song List". It remained there for 9 consecutive weeks and climbed to Number #1.

"**This day of March 4, 2012** Congratulations “T” Roy Taylor on blessing us with The #1 Song of the Week of 03/04/2012 … “Mr. Cool Demeanor” It has been on the chart for 7 weeks, and now in it's 7th week it is at #1. Most people would think that this song doesn't even belong on a Gospel Chart, but the message is quite clear, You need to treat her as the scriptures say to. Again, congratulations on having the #1 Song of the Week. Thank You for being such a blessing to us all. James L. I thank the Lord for what little talent I have and pray that all those who take the time to listen, will enjoy the music that came from my heart. Hopefully one or more of the songs will help someone who is hurting get through the pain or lead them to turn to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God will bless you if you'll let him!
