Los Guerreros de la Musica (LGM) / Bio

Los Guerreros de la Musica is from the great city of Houston, Texas. Formed in 2009, LGM has made a significant impact on the Houston Latino music scene with their unique blend of Cumbia, Rock, Reggae, Ska, Mariachi, Bossa Nova & Jazz. This interesting fusion has a little something for everyone - especially those who like to dance!!

LGM is a family-friendly band that has performed at events/venues such as the Houston Tamale Fest, Conoco Phillips Rodeo Run, Houston International Festival, East End Urban Arts Fest, League City Uncorked Wine Festival, Texas Legacy Festival, Texas Crawfish Festival, MECA's Viva El Amor & Dia de los Muertos festivals, East End Street Fest, the 2014 East Texas Music Awards, Discovery Green, The Reliant Center, Fitzgerald's, The Orange Show, The Meridian, Continental Club, Antone's, Warehouse Live and the Miller Outdoor Theatre.

Vanessa Alonzo made her Houston Grand Opera debut in the concert premiere of "To Cross the Face of the Moon" at the Wortham Theater Center in November 2010. She began her training with the late Alfonso Guerra at Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts (MECA). Ms. Alonzo has been a featured performer with mariachi ensembles throughout Texas since 1998. In 1999, Vanessa was named the "Best of Show Vocalist" in Ford-Lincoln Mercury's Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza Vocal Competition. Her notable credits include tours to Ireland, Mexico, Norway and Vietnam. In 2002, Vanessa performed for the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. Vanessa is also a former student of Houston Grand Opera Studio Alumnus, Gabriel Gonzalez.

In 2013, Ms. Alonzo was on a world tour with 2 different operas as well as sharing the stage with Los Guerreros de la Musica. In 2014 she will again join the "To Cross the Face of the Moon" performance staff as they debut at the Phoenix Opera.
