Austin's latest band, The Kimbles, features: Austin Kimble - piano, Kelsey Kimble, vocals, + bass and drums
With a strong background in classical piano, Austin Kimble began studying jazz piano eight years ago at the University of Texas. Kelsey first encountered her husband and favorite bandmate when they performed in the same ensemble at UT. She continued to receive training in classical voice technique and opera while moonlighting as Mr. Kimble's favorite local jazz singer. The musical duo instantly recognized their natural chemistry, continued to perform together as often as possible, and got married after they both completed their coursework.
The Kimbles recently released a CD, A Riff in the Age of Melancholy, featuring their original music. After a successful Kickstarter campaign in Spring 2013, they returned to the studio with bass and drums to record a two-disc set of original music: this time rock and jazz. The Kimbles anticipate a late-August release for their new album, "Meet The Kimbles." More info TBA! Austin also performs with other groups, such as Jazzbonez (who showcased at the International Trombone Convention when it was held in Austin in 2010,) the Round Rock Big Band, Austin Jazz Band, etc, and even with other genres of music, including reggae, country, funk, neo-soul, classical/opera, pop, and jazz fusion.
The Kimbles have performed in jazz clubs in Paris, Shanghai, New York, New Orleans, and the list goes on. In Texas, they've performed all over Austin, including KXAN TV, KVUE TV, News 8 Austin, KLBJ radio, KOOP radio, KUT radio, KUTX radio, Austin Music Hall, Frank Erwin Center, Elephant Room, Four Seasons, One World Theatre, Antone's, the Belmont, Waterloo, Stephan F Austin Hotel, Downtown Hilton, Iron Cactus Austin, Lambert's, and Hickory Street Cafe. The Kimbles play also every Sunday at the Unity Center of Austin, where they direct the music program.
