Mario Diaz & the Steady Vibes is a band based in Atlanta, GA, and has been active since 2010. Their music is heavy on Roots Reggae, Dub, and Reggae fusion with influences including Bob Marley and the Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Sublime, Ziggy Marley, Rebelution, SOJA, Damian Marley, Slightly Stoopid, Black Uhuru, Matisyahu, G Love and Special Sauce, Jack Johnson, and many others.
Mario Diaz has been a musician all his life. Originally from Pearl City, Hawaii, he has beach music running through his veins as he is the grandson of the famous Cuban trio star Servando Diaz and son of accomplished pianist/guitarist/vocalist Mario Diaz Sr. “Music was always a part of our family… a part of our daily routine.
After moving to Atlanta, GA in 2008, he began playing solo shows in small venues and jamming with different bands. “I put out an EP of covers and original songs called “Chill” that I recorded at home in my computer. Not very good, but everywhere I went people asked me for a record they could buy. I kinda had to put something out.” Mario decided that it was time for another band, one that represented his journey through life, his roots, his soul. “I had people tell me that Reggae would never work in Atlanta. That I had to change everything… my music, my image, MY NAME!! It was insane. I decided not to listen to any of it and do things my way… stay true to myself. Mario played with many Atlanta musicians while trying to put together a band that was both solid and full of like-minded people.
Mario Diaz & the Steady Vibes combines a driving rhythm section with rootsy guitars and powerful vocals with a positive message of “good vibes” and relaxation. “That is what we sell… what we advertise… and what we deliver. Positivism, good times, a chill atmosphere where you can dance your problems away” Mario says with extreme confidence.
