He currently has songs that are Charted and numerous songs has Charted in the Top 10 in the UK, including 4 songs, "Once An Angel", "Quarter Friends", "Town Of Fewer People" and "Best Friends", which hit the #1 spot in Europe. First off you have Grammy Nominated Freddy Lovvorn; vocals/guitar. Jess Ford; fiddle/vocals; played and toured with The Charlie Daniels Band for years (And Yes! We do play "The Devil Went Down To Georgia"!!! And it will bring the crowd to their feet!). Roger Schoolfield; lead guitar/vocals; played and was Band Leader for Mark Chesnutt for 9 years. Bill Gordy; piano/vocals; played and toured with Billy Dean and Bo Diddley, Greg Smith; drums; has played and toured nationwide with numerous groups out of Nashville. Greg has also played for our troops in Singapore at a July 4th Celebration. Melody Smith; bass guitar/vocals; has played and toured with some of the top bands in the southeast. When needed, we have Pat Matula; fiddle/accordion; who is a 3 time Bronze finisher in the Texas Fiddle Championship, and Gene Turner; bass guitar/vocals; who toured with Robert Earl Keen and Pat Green.
At a young age Freddy founded The Head N' South Band following the family tradition of older first cousin Emmylou Harris who heavily influenced him. After HSB formed they immediately began opening for legendary artists such as Confederate Railroad, Shenandoah, Tracy Byrd, Mark Chesnutt, Waylon Jennings, Razzy Bailey, The Origonal Drifting Cowboys, Johnny Paycheck, Conway Twitty, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, Ronna Reeves, Freddy Fender, Jim Nabors, The Texas Tornadoes, Ray Price, Jerry Reed, is just to name a few. The Head N' South Band has rocked across the United States and Europe with their hard driving Country Music. In April 2002 Freddy's 2nd CD the title cut "Town Of Fewer People" was released to radio and video makers and over the past 10 years is still Charting overseas. In 2003 Freddy and The Head N' South Band were nominated or won several Terry Awards for this amazing album, including "Traditional Country Band Of The Year", "Songwriter Of The Year", "Album Of The Year" and "Club Band Of The Year". The Head N' South Band also was selected for the 44th Grammy Entry List, Category 39, Field 7 for "Best Country Album", ahead of such major artists as Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Lila McCann, Marshall Dyllon, Montgomery Gentry and numerous others. They also won "Texas Album Of The Year" for the album "Town Of Fewer People" given by the Francis Walsh Foundation.
