Alternative Rock Theatre. A unique blend of art rock, jazz, electronica and psychedelia that relies heavily on mood and textures to propel thought-provoking lyrics into the deep recesses of your consciousness. It's also the creative output of a certifiable madman, albeit one with something to say.
With so many contemporary major label artists focused on producing the next chart-topping single, sometimes a discerning music listener has to go outside the mainstream to find independent artists who still believe in the sanctity of the full-length album. I am one of those artists who has made it his mission to produce complex, theatrical concept albums that challenge the music listener. The product of this intense focus are two full-length albums of considerable depth: The Enemy Inside and Running After Midnight.
I am currently at work on my third album, Shock Therapy. I've finished the music for all 12 tracks, and am pleased to report that this is my most ambitious and musically adventurous album to date. Now let's see what I can do with the lyrics...
DISCOGRAPHY | THE ENEMY INSIDE
The Enemy Inside combines psychological themes of addiction, alienation, self-loathing, megalomania and madness with sociopolitical commentary to present a portrait of a successful, but lonely technology entrepreneur who also moonlights as a modern-day cybermenace. By the time this story begins our antihero has already endured a series of failed romantic relationships, the last of which compels him to find a disreputable outlet for his pent-up frustrations at work and on the personal front: computer hacking.
Through determination, skill and cunning he successfully breaches the security infrastructure of various governmental and commercial institutions. This puts him on the radar of prominent industry and government cybercops who eventually make lame offers in an attempt to turn him into a white knight. No dice. Ultimately, it takes the love of a special woman to get our antihero to soften up and embark on a new path towards fulfillment and enlightenment.
DISCOGRAPHY | RUNNING AFTER MIDNIGHT
Running After Midnight is the story of a talented, but aimless young man who enlists in the military, leaving behind family, friends and the love of his life in a quest to find himself while courageously serving his country. During the course of several overseas tours our hero learns the indelible lessons of war as he begins to question his motivations and actions. Returning home afflicted with post-traumatic stress disorder, he struggles with substance abuse problems he thought he'd conquered before earning his stripes. While trying to mend the fractured relationships he maintains with his dysfunctional family he surprisingly manages to rekindle the romance with the woman he once foolishly tried to leave behind.
As our hero's delicate psyche begins to heal he experiences a political and spiritual awakening. Tired of watching career politicians hold him and his fellow citizens hostage while they elevate hypocrisy and cynicism to an art form, he takes to the airwaves, the Internet and the streets to voice his opposition to policies designed to empower and enrich the minority at the expense of the majority. If peace of mind continues to elude him, at least he's becoming more aware of what and who matters most to him.
