John Hefter learned to spin records at age 2 1/2. His Father showed him C and F chords @ age 4. He also discovered and helped develop John's perfect pitch. For better or worse, this meant that "child John" would bypass many of the exercises recommended by his piano teachers in favor of turning on the rudderless turbo boosters.
He later attended MATC and UW-Madison where he learned more chords and rudders. After completing a BA that launched him into the lifetime school of Jazz. he soon found his is way into a local/regional music profession, teaching and performing with some very talented musicians and singers.
Karaoke gets credited with helping "adult John" recover from having been pushed to sing a solo in 1st grade and hating it because "child John" just wanted to make some friends, not be American Idol. (Adult John doesn't worry about AI either.). With a new perspective on singing, John began the pursuit of combining introspective lyrics with an eclectic musical fuel to add to shows that support his compositions.
Along this journey, John has recorded 2 CD's, "After Carefree Consideration" (2003) and "Keepin' the Minimum" (2009) . He also has met many interesting people from all age groups and economic backgrounds. Traveling to various U.S. cities is a favorite hobby which provides an opportunity to jam and listen at some of America's great Jazz clubs and to experience culture
