The Chronicles of Rock (TCOR Radio) – the World’s newest rock & metal radio – has officially launched out of the proverbial bank vault studios in the rock & metal state of Oregon. The success so far can be heard around the globe as “no rules radio”. The case in point: advancements of viral and mobile technology have advanced the TCOR brand far beyond the myths of FM and its urban legend attachment to an audio audience. The focus from the inception of TCOR Radio has been to bring an independent feel and natural flow of reality radio to the national masses. mrBlack, founder and producer of TCOR Entertainment LLC, explains the success of TCOR Radio thus far in relation to its overall mission.
“Who is to really say or judge, what in this day and age, and on any level, is that expected radio mold,” Black states. “We just free flow energy over the mic and don’t worry about criticism, structure or precise action. Comedy one minute, a bit of crass and shock the next. We throw in that sweet wholesome corporate element then smash it with a random exchange of controversial verbiage. If we are comfortable and supportive of rock & metal in an honest and “ourselves” state of mind, it flows not only into the songs we play, but the listeners we attract. I believe this has led to our immediate success throughout the world and even our own market thus far. We don’t edit the music, we don’t play the hits 10 times a day, we just do what blends into that moment of broadcast.”
So far, according to statistics generated from credible viral resources, The Chronicles Of Rock has amassed an average of 4400 unique listeners a day within the early weeks of its freshman phase, give or take the imbalance and firewall protection (or lack thereof) of some unique IP addresses. The ability to reach the masses abroad is just as crucial to an overall blanket of direct listenership as the home town of Portland, Oregon that TCOR Radio originates from. This bodes very well for the overall local and national future of TCOR Entertainment LLC as a whole and the bands it showcases. A blend of 65% national content via the access of ASCAP and BMI and 35% local and unsigned bands via demos and independent releases collected from across the rock and metal waves.
Yes, TCOR is viral not FM. Why? It makes no sense in this day and age, AND economy, to test the waters of an old school direction that has declined according to global statistics. Some could argue that it may be rock and metal that is declining but statistically speaking it is the music industry as a whole that has gone South. The entire world market has gone in that same direction but you can’t deny rock- based empires such as the WWE, the Guitar Hero and Rock Band brands, or the success of such tours and festivals as Download, OzzFest and Rockstar Energy’s Mayhem/Uproar. Therefore, smart forward branding of rock and metal requires logical financial execution. mrBlack again elaborates...
“We have been through the trenches of the Portland market as musicians, publishers, promoters, television producers, club owners and as fans,” mrBlack states. “To live through all of this over a span of 2 decades, I believe, gives The Chronicles Of Rock Radio the inside track of what it takes financially to break into a system without worry of failure and financial destruction. Why have the $20,000.00 overhead of a corporate radio station vs the $2500.00 of a studio space and it’s fairly inexpensive and realistic bill structure. This equates to more funding for promotions and further focus on marketing. The realistic wave of our current generation is mobile first, viral second at this point. We have launched bullets into both phases from the jump with guns blazing! We respect FM but never had intentions to go there, and for good reason. It’s no secret as well that an education of mobile and viral needs to take place vs FM. If you think about it, the ability to access TCOR Radio is far greater in ease and structure than a local FM radio station or even paid broadcast outlet such as Sirius Satellite Radio. You can access our station on the go or in a personal or business structure with a click of a button or injection of headphones from ANYWHERE! Your local radio station, reality states...you cannot. We do everything an FM station does but on a greater scale in theory. Again, less rules and more financial comfort. I think listeners just need to get over the intimidation of switching from what they grew up thinking was the main resource of music besides our parents vinyl records and cassette tapes.”
Within TCOR Radio’s overall structure is a passion for the overall “rock” genre. The brand has developed 15 shows diverse in content from alternative rock to punk, death metal to classic rock, and mosh-driven metal to industrial electro-core. The recently launched TCORradio.com is a user friendly resource defining each show and creating immediate interaction with the listener through content such as a main page “self-controlled” radio player, about & news section, giveaway page, concert calendar, event gallery and more.
