The Definitives started as a band with family and friends in 2006 with guitarist Eric Moulton, brother Jimmy on drums and Jacob Stevens on vocals. This trio continued until early 2008 when Alex Lipsett joined on bass solidifying a lineup that would last for the early part of their career. The Definitives name was made official in summer 2008 with the performance at an elementary school as guest performers for the ninos and ninas of Port Hueneme in their talent show. The name was a reference to the LP recorded by Eric Moulton appropriately named "The Definitive Hits". Rhythm guitarist Tyler Nichols joined in early 2009 derping the band to new heights. After an intervention to end his addiction to Xbox, drummer Jimmy ragequitted the band some time around 2007-2010, Stephen Coler was brought in to play in the ACHS talent show that March. This proved to be a great fit and the lineup has remained constant ever since as the band has gone to play actual shows and not just elementary school talent shows.
