Through their music and live performance, The Outer Vibe captures a “Big America” energy that is larger than a 1960s Detroit assembly line. Their sound is a collage of the motor city’s passion and power, the upbeat, good feelings of the West coast, and a cinematic southwestern nostalgia. The familiar, organic music supports a positive lyrical message of perseverance, maintaining relationships, and a carefree lifestyle.
Recent months have been busy for The Outer Vibe. In 2012, the Grand Rapids, MI-based band began an expedition across the U.S. to support their album, “Hoka Hey.” The title track independently achieved much success, getting top 5 request at radio in Michigan, Wisconsin and the Dakotas. In Rapid City, SD, their return appearance increased street fair attendance from 7,000 in 2012 to 13,500 in 2013. “Hoka Hey” was also licensed by ABC News’s “Good Morning, America” and West Michigan’s Baker College in 2013.
Now The Outer Vibe has written a collection of new original material that has gained the attention of nationally known producers with multi-platinum status, as well as some key radio programmers, one of whom expects to see the band break nationally. The Outer Vibe is anxious to play their new music live while they prepare to record their highly anticipated follow-up to “Hoka Hey.” They are striving to create imagery of a weathered, rusty 6-string guitar, dusty conchos, Western America, and their home state’s very own motor city.
