Wallow Sound brings together four accomplished performers who have each left a distinct signature in the SWFL Original Music scene over the years, and finally joined forces to create a totally unique sound that could define an era.
The band has been together since March of 2011, but the unfortunate departure of a guitarist and drummer in early 2013 found the band looking to regroup. They recruited mutual friend and former PUSHMOWER lead vocalist Greg Pope to hold down the role of front man, moved multi-talented former lead singer J.J. Armstrong into the drum throne full time, and allowed Bassist Eddie Starr the room he needed for his full-throttle, in your face playing style. Moving into the sole guitar spot has allowed Chuck Cantasano the freedom to explore new areas of sonic brilliance, and the band as a whole has a decidedly more focused, contemporary feel in the new tracks they are writing.
Although the bands self-titled freshman effort album is still available at shows, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and more, the band elected to not retain or perform any of the first albums tracks out of respect to former band mates and friends, and proceeded to write all new material, with a renewed intensity and fire. The songwriting process is truly a group effort, with everyone weighing in on each phase of song development. The combination of four distinct musical backrounds allows each member to dictate the movement of a song with individual flavor, resulting in something refreshingly different in a world filled with copycat generic songs.
Songs like "Radioactive Milk Supply" show a heavy Blues/Rock influence, with Armstrong laying down a heavy, Bonhamesque groove under Pope's rapid fire vocals, while "The Chase" lays witty vocals on top of a dynamically moving explosion of guitar and drums which are all led to the edge of destruction by Starr's furious bass line. The band shows another side of songwriting with "The Design", a haunting blend of vocals layered between rich drum sounds, and Cantasano's anguished and unforgettable guitar riff. The rest of the songs run the gamut from the fun and fervor of "Swell", down to the Reggaeton vibe of "Love.com" and everything in between.
They are currently preparing to record some of the new tracks for the bands sophomore effort, tentatively titled "V2", but Bootlegged live performance recordings and videos are actively being shared amongst fans with the same fervor as Dead Heads used to have!
They have had the privilege of sharing the stage with Tantric, Sevendust, Cracker, and many more over the years. The band has also performed at two Ink Life Tour events, Surf and Song Festival, and plays regularly throughout the great State of Florida.
With the support of a loyal and hard rocking local fan base, plus a growing number of fans across the globe, Wallow Sound cannot wait to see what the next chapter brings!
