Currently performing a six-month weekend residency at Rockwood Music Hall, The Uptown Party Down’s late-night dance parties are a testament to the band’s reputation as some of the funkiest new faces in the Big Apple. Owing much to the arrangements of pioneers like The JBs, The Meters and Tower of Power, The Uptown Party Down also cite strong influences from MJ, Prince and even Huey Lewis.
The Uptown Party Down recently headlined the closing ceremony for the One Young World Summit in Pittsburgh (the largest international conference second only to the Olympics, featuring delegates from over 150 countries); the show was for over 1,000 people, and was met with great enthusiasm by start ups worldwide. From Poland to South Africa, the band received offers to play sponsored parties across the globe. A nine piece band with horns, synths, soulful vocals and an 18-wheeler of energy, the Uptown Party Down is a frat party wrapped in a mini skirt.
