Gunship Radio is an alternative rock & roll band from Kalamazoo, MI - blending alternative and progressive rock with oldies and classics. "Driven by an experienced rythm section, and firing with a scattershot approach aimed by two young guitarists, Gunship Radio wage war on genre definition." -Eric Mitts, Recoil Magazine.
Formed in 2003 gunship radio was a modern rock quintet bringing a unique blend of rock to music world. In 2007, Gunship Radio went on a temporary hiatus. During the break, members of the band moved on in their lives. "Things changed in 2010 when guitarist and vocalist Tyler Berkey [and Sean Cyphers] began jamming with Geoff Brown and Danny Whitaker and the four decided to form a new band. Ultimately they stuck with the name Gunship Radio (can you blame them?)." "Undeniably talented this foursome, like any good band, is out to have a good time and is eager for you to come join them" -Jason S. Leverett, Kzoo Music Scene. With the new member influences, the group has ventured onto new sounds, with more structured varieties. "This highly democratic musical atmosphere has lead to an ever shifting sound and artistic aesthetic. "I watched Gunship Radio perform when I was outside the band and they loved performing and loved rocking but the sound has changed a little bit," Cyphers said who along with Berkey officially joined the band in 2010."-Jeremy Martin, The Battle Creek Enquirer.
Gunship Radio has many influences such as Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead and Led Zeppelin, just to name a few. The band features and pays tribute to the bands that have influenced their musical lives, and inspire their original songs as well. With enough material to entertain a full night, the band is actively booking shows and working on new material. Be sure to listen to the new album, Brantley Manor. The album is available for free live stream on their website, Reverb Nation and Groove Shark, or purchase it on iTunes, Zune, Rhapsody, Amazon Mp3 and Spotify.
