Andrew and Jake hit it off right from the start. Combining two traditionally different styles of music to form one sound is simply amazing. Awe is what you get when you merge the simplistic sound of these two voices and their guitars...No symphonic altered overdubbed tracks, No airbrushed new age electronics, looping stations nor digital harmonizers.... what you hear on Reverbnation is what you will experience and feel during their live shows...they keep attracting audiences and capturing their attention with the wide variety of their original sound.
Both arrived to their destination from a familiar back round, Andrew a native of Eastern Massachusetts and Jake from Cambridge, Ma. Both began performing early on. Further down the road both found an attraction to the Artistic and Diverse Cultural Community of the Pioneer Valley, that of Amherst, Mass. It was there on the Campus of U/Mass Amherst that their artistic abilities began to flourish. It Was this experience which caused their increased encouragement.
Fast forward a few years later, it was full circle fate that brought them together. After graduate work in Cambridge, Ma, their talents again crossed paths, this time at a Coffee House Jake had Organized in the Davis Square Community of Somerville, Ma. The Sitting in on Andrews set of songs, was the deciding factor hat finalized their permanence, the sound of Lewis and Garrels. Their songs are drawn from the common experience and are expressed with a freshness and an originality that defies Cliche'.

Cambridge Massachusetts has long been the home of urban folk music in America. Andrew Lewis and Jake Garrels combine to embody that tradition, but also to forge a new one for a new generation of folkies.
Whether at a cozy Cambridge house concert, on stage in one of Boston's venerable venues, or before a vast festival crowd, their music always resonates in the hearts and heads of their audience.
With a combined 50 years of experience on stage and tens of thousands of miles of road under their feet, they are fully rooted while remaining remarkably fresh.
Jake's artful recrafting of traditional and classic tunes is a perfect foil for Andrew's articulate and tuneful song writing.
As a typical set opens, Andrew croons a soulful tune, Jake playing a compassionate accompaniment on second guitar; that might be followed with a rollicking blues lyric delivered with flawless enthusiasm by Jake; and within just a few numbers you know you're on your way to a deeply satisfying musical experience.
Sample of few of their clips, watch a video or two, but by all means get out and catch them live whenever you can. Their star is rising quickly and the "local" gigs will soon be few and far between.
