The Gunston Manor Band / Bio

The Gunston Manor Band was started by drummer Tom Sapp, who began by jamming with local musicians with goal of playing the best guitar rock and blues songs.

"Having started The Gunston Manor Band many years ago with a couple of guys from my neighborhood, the focus was on classic rock and rockin' guitar blues," Tom said. As musicians came and went, the music list changed and the format evolved but the goal remained the same.

Tom grew up playing drums in bands in London, England in 1971 and continued when he moved back to the US to Northern Virginia in 1977. He's a straight ahead, in the pocket drummer, who lives by blues and rock beats. He has been a tour drum tech for many of the best drummers including Steve Gadd (Steely Dan), Alan White (Yes), Neil Peart (Rush) and knows how to get the best out of a kit. Tom plays Tama Drums and Sabian Cymbals in his drum kit.

Chris Violette has been singin' his whole life....in the shower as a kid, to today with Gunston Manor. He a former Marine and we're proud to have him, as a Desert Storm War Veteran in the band. He now works for Metro and is still singin'....... as the lead singer in the band.

On guitar, George Lanum has been a studio recording artist, from the basement to Omega Studios with GMB for years.... Aside from being a phonominal Blues Guitarist, he helps manage and edit the Washington Times Newspaper.

XXX is one of the smoothist bass Bass Players around....He grew up playing in some of the clubs in the 80's making a name for himself. Today, he still loves to play, and jamming in his music man cave with his band mates.....

Bentley Westfield is piano icon in the music industry....having been a professional pianist in many bands over the years past, banging the ivories night after night in the club scene of the 70's and 80's. In the words and verses of the Rolling Stones, "You can't alway get what you want, but if you try sometime, you get what you need." He always wanted to play in a four piece band.......you got what you wished for Bentley. He has been around the Piano block once or twice...... from Fairfax Station, Va and he knows just about every Southern Classic Rock song from The Allman Bros.,Skynryd, to The Rolling Stones and Marshall Tucker etc.. Bentley is piano icon in the music industry....having been a professional pianist in many bands over the years past, banging the ivories night after night in the club scene of the 70's and 80's. .......you got what you wished for!
