Marcus Singletary is a producer, songwriter, and musician based in Los Angeles, California. He has recorded a myriad of albums and has appeared on television and radio several times.
Singletary began his career in Chicago, Illinois, where he pursued vocal lessons while graduating from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications. Later, he moved to a small apartment in Hollywood, founded Aviation Records, and studied audio engineering and jazz improvisation at Musician's Institute. He currently resides in Sherman Oaks, CA - where he operates a Pro Tools-equipped recording studio that has resulted in state-of-the-art production and low overhead.
Singletary's skills have been cited by many, including columnist Dan Berthiaume ("Jazzy keyboards in the style of Doors legend Ray Manzarek…and futuristic sound effects provided by instruments such as the theremin also pop up, and Singletary still can't help but let what appears to be his natural optimism shine") and music journalist Jim Pasinski ("Marcus is a workhorse, handling all the vocals, guitars, organs, keyboards, and synthesizer…[drawing] upon the classic rock sound of the seventies while incorporating some of today's topics within the lyrics.")
Career highlights include six appearances on the Argentina-based radio show De Rock y Freud, a pair of performances on Chic-a-Go-Go - a Chicago-based children's TV program, several live showcases at LA venues including Henry Fonda Theater, House of Blues, Viper Room, and Whisky a Go-Go, and a news story featuring a Singletary interview excerpt and live clip that aired on CNN in March, 2012.
