Queen City Dub began in early 2009 with guitarist
Jason Cline and drummer Brandon Hucks jamming together. Both were members of the jazz band at Butler High School, which put them in contact with bassist Ryan Collins. The band began playing at house parties around Charlotte, but was still in need of a lead singer. Singer Alejandro Ramirez happened to be at a party the band was playing at, and after playing a few songs for the band, the line up was complete and Queen City Dub was formed. After countless confrontations with law enforcement from playing at house parties, the band began to seek more legitimate venues. Queen City Dub has since added a talented saxophone and keyboard player by the name of Will Pinson and an extremely energetic drummer named Jobias Jackson after the line-up switch in mid 2013. The band now has a funky soulful sound with a heavy reggae feel following our former drummer Brandon's switch to Trombone. We have been playing at venues at Charlotte, Rock Hill, Asheville, Wilmington, and Charleston ever since, and bring an energetic blend of reggae, funk, and blues filled with improv and exciting guest musicians.
