Cordell Gibson is a 23-year-old Pittsburgh native with a strong talent for R&B and Soul. The vocalist and songwriter was first discovered in 2010 by Creative.Life.Support Records during his participation in the We Rock Workshop, a music production program for former and current foster youth that works in cooperation with the PA Department of Human Services. Originally referred to the program by his caseworker, who recognized his talent and ambition, Gibson has participated in the program every year since 2010.
Surrounded by music and art for the majority of his life, singing came naturally to him as a child and at the age of 12 he taught himself how to play piano by ear. His talents also expand to drawing, painting and playing various instruments eventually leading him to attend college for art and music.
Formerly known as Deezy 412, Gibson has decided to continue his professional career with the name his parents gave him so as to promote his R&B and Soul focus. Gibson’s passion for and dedication to music caught the attention of Liz Berlin, (owner of Creative.Life.Support Records and member of multi-platinum band Rusted Root). She brought him in to the Creative.Life.Support Artist Development Program, which has led to the development of Gibson’s first full album, “Untold Stories”. Dropping in the summer of 2013, this album is evocative of the rough and unstable life that has formed Gibson’s talent.
“Untold Stories” is comprised of all original songs that follow the life of Gibson. His nature pours forth in the honesty of his music through the exploration of emotion and personal anecdotes. Gibson invites the listener to hear his struggles, celebrate his triumphs, and share in his dreams.
