"Where The Water Meets The Land" (formerly "NO OWLS")
"Where The Water Meets The Land* is a 3 member Indie/Experimental/Post Rock/ band from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Their music is a blend of dramatic, emotional, and powerful crescendos, similar to cinematic scores. Bands such as "Mogwai", "Explosions In The Sky", and "This Will Destroy You" set the stage in the beginning.
When a long time friend and former school band mate returned from college a new opportunity arrived. The trio choose to embark on a more provocative and technical journey.
They draw on prior band experiences, rely on various trainings, then experiment with musical blends known only to them. The sound they create is different, it's passion filled and captures your attention time and again.
"Where The Water Meets The Land" brings climatic music that fully engages your entire being. You hear it! You feel it! It becomes alive and remains within you!
Their Story :
It was the fall of 2008, Terry started High School in an “out of district” school. Oliver met Terry during High School Band. At the band marching festival in October 2008, Aaron was introduced to Oliver through his older brother, Terry.
It wasn’t long after the marching festival that Oliver would begin to visit and “jam” with Terry on guitar. Their friendship grew that year and by the time Aaron entered high school in the fall of 2009, Terry and Oliver were pretty close and quickly welcomed Aaron into their “social circle”.
In 2010 Terry and Aaron formed a band called “Going Postal”. Oliver was already a member in a Punk Band “Nothing Short of Everything”, thus unavailable to join their band. Two teens from Long Beach High School joined “Going Postal”. The band lasted long enough to record a demo and get plenty of stage time at a local teen clubs. “Going Postal” and “Nothing Short of Everything” even shared the stage a time or two as the bands’ were similar in nature.
In the Spring of 2011, Oliver had committed to a college in Memphis, TN; the same time that Terry and Aaron needed a new guitar player.
An ad was placed on craigslist and “Going Postal” found a new guitar player/vocalist that way.. The band was renamed to “No Owls” and would move forward as an Instrumental Rock band with Cresendo-Core undertones. “No Owls” lasted just over a year, many festivals, 3 recordings, as an opening performance for a “National Music Act” and a movie consideration. Shortly thereafter the guitarist felt it was time for him to move in a different direction.
The two brothers remained from "No Owls", but great news was at hand! Oliver was returning to the coast. In May of 2012, "Where The Water Meets The Land" would form between the long time friends, Oliver, Aaron and Terry. School band disciplines, education, team work and years of mutual friendship, music appreciation and trainings would mold the band to be stronger than any previous band.
