The Hollywood Hound Dogs / Bio

Catfish & The Hollywood Hound Dogs, are a Los Angeles based group who work very hard and perform an interesting mixture of Blues, Jump Swing, and traditional classic blues music!!. The group made their major debut in 2009 at the Montebello Calif. Fall Festival and just recently have been regularly appearing at the World Famous King King blues club in Hollywood and opening shows at the House of Blues in both Hollywood and Anaheim, Calif!!

Catfish & The Hollywood Hound Dogs dynamic and exciting live performances have gained a local west coast following that has attracted the eyes and ears of the blues, rockabilly, motorcycle, and hot rod scene. Their mix of West Coast Jump Swing and electric Chicago blues is highly appreciated by a mixture of young fans and older blues loving crowd. The Hollywood Hound Dogs musicians are some of the heaviest hitters on the west coast blues scene and sling everything they've got in their bag of chops into backing Catfish!!

But where Catfish & the Hollywood Hound Dogs have BEEN is not nearly important as where they are GOING!! The band is headed into the studio in Oceanside, Calif. in the next few weeks to record a brand new CD with a working title of "Rite On! Rite Now!" for major label release and will follow by working a searing release tour from Calif to the East coast!!!

CATFISH is THE most happening, up and coming blues star shining on the west coast horizon of the United States!!
Catfish's stage presence, personality, musicianship and approach to the crowd is unparalleled!! He IS the new blues frontman on the scene on the west coast and is ready and willing to break out into the big time!! Fans and followers of the band have said, Catfish’s influence and traditional harmonica performance style matches the late great Junior Wells, Little Walter or Paul Butterfield. Some of Catfish's other more modern performace style influences are Kim Wilson, James Harman and Rod Piazza.

Prior to 2009, a few of the founding members, Catfish and guitarist Mike Recendez performed at local blues jams until they officially became a "bone-ified blues band," known as the Hollywood Hound Dogs.

While guest performers join the Hollywood Hound Dogs, the official band members include singer/harmonica player Catfish on blues harmonica, Mark StJohn-jones on bass guitar, Anthony Contreras on guitar, and Evan Caleb Yearsley on drums.

The Hollywood Hound Dogs' dynamic and lively performances quickly gained a local following and have attracted the eyes and ears of the rockabilly and hot rod scene.

More than anything, the Hollywood Hound Dogs -“bone-ified blues band” is known to rock the house. Stay tuned for updates.
