Collaborating once again with two-time Grammy Award winning engineer Tom Ruff, founder of Asbury Media and Peter Andrews of Submergent Studios, Mash McLain has come home in her newest self-titled release “Mash McLain”.
Rising from the heart of Asbury Park, this Jersey singer-songwriter soars above categorization with her own distinctive blend of some of the finest 1960’s musical roots imbued with contemporary inspirations. It takes but a listen to know that someone very special has now emerged onto the national and international music scene.
"Like a summer solstice moon on the rise, Mash's hauntingly ethereal lyrics and earthy vocal styling’s echo the call of one wild soul to another.” - Drew Wajnert, Phanphest Enterprises
Nominated for an Asbury Park Music Award three years running and a 2012 nominee for the New Jersey Acoustic Music Awards, Mash has crossed state lines and has been hitting the road since May with friend and fellow poet Dave Stanley. They both can be seen performing on the Emmy nominated series “Driving Jersey”, directed by Steve Rogers.
With a musical breadth that both unites and transcends genres, “I sound like me,” Mash says. And within that, one can hear the elegant sadness of Lucinda Williams, the rhythmic and pointed anti-folk of Ani DiFranco, the widescreen classic Americana of Johnny Cash, inspiration gleaned from timeless singing storytellers like Don McLean, James Taylor, Jim Croce and Tracy Chapman. As well as tinges of diverse rockers from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young to Jefferson Airplane to Mike Ness to Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival and a host of others. And she brings to it all an indelible stamp that ultimately marks what she creates as no one other than Mash McLain. Check out her newest release at: cdbaby.com/mashmclain3
