Jim Putman has called Portland home since 2004. Originally, from the San Francisco Bay, he has been playing professionally for over 30 years. Jim has performed in numerous concerts and jazz festivals, including an international tour with pianist Norma Teagarden and appearances at the Monterey Jazz Festival with trumpeter Clark Terry. He spent many years as the guitar player for Swing Fever, one of California's preeminent concert, touring, and event bands. He has played and toured with Buddy DeFranco, Jake Hannah, Terry Gibbs, Tommy Newsom, and Buddy Collette.
Jim has always been thought of by fellow musicians as an especially sensitive & artful player with vocalists. He has toured and/or recorded with singers Jackie Ryan, Mary Stallings, Weslia Whitfield, Denise Perrier, Paula West, Shanna Carlson, Brenda Boykin, Barbara Lashley, Wanda Stafford, Kim Nalley, & Lisa Andrea Torres.
Jim is currently exploring the jazz possibilities of Portland, Oregon
