Guitarists Corey Bax and Charlie Smith formed Campfires & Constellations in Dunn, NC in 2010 as an outlet to perform the original music they'd begun writing together as high school friends. Upon graduating high school, the boys relocated to Chapel Hill to attend college, and picked up a few new musicians along the way: Ernest Thompson was recruited to play the banjo, while Stephen Mooneyhan and Daniel T. Perry IV joined on drums and bass, respectively. Carter Fourqurean was brought on as producer in 2013.
As college students, C&C cut their teeth picking up gigs wherever they could get them. They established their country music chops covering classic artists like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams, while also taking the opportunity to showcase and develop their growing repertoire of original songs.
In April 2014, as UNC seniors, the boys finally released their long anticipated, full-length studio debut, called Carolina Homegrown. Received well by fans and critics alike, the album consists of 11 tracks, which run the full Americana gamut from bouncy folk-pop, to swamp grunge groove, to straight-up country.
Today, you can spot Campfires & Constellations performing regularly around the greater NC Triangle area and beyond. Stay tuned!
