Amanda Carol Russell was born in Red Bank, New Jersey 22 years ago. She began studying voice at age eleven, performing in choirs and local talent shows. Influenced by singers such as Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, and many of the classic jazz singers, she took her hobby to the next level after high school and began studying in the prestigious jazz school at the University of North Texas. She currently lives in Denton, Texas, continuing to study at UNT and performs in UNT's Jazz Singers 1 group. She teaches voice lessons and also performs in the DFW area on a weekly basis with the pop cover band Craig Spence Project. She also performs with local jazz musicians in the DFW area. She also recently was married to Andy Greatorex, a fellow jazz bassist who received his jazz degree at UNT this past summer.
