Saine Rapley hails from Kingston, Jamaica and today lives in Old Harbour, a small, communal town located just 30 minutes outside of the capital Kingston. She is a graduate of two major high schools in Jamaica - The Queens High School and May Pen High, both renowned for nurturing high quality talent, and graduated, not surprisingly with above average certifications focused in the Arts.
Despite her academic potential, Saine had an insatiable appetite for music, and singing in particular, and if The Queens High School was the backdrop for amateur flirtations in the art, then May Pen High provided ample opportunity for her to explore her raw talent, and to use it as a means to express herself, culminating in a decision to have a career in music.
If you speak with her, Saine will tell you that she has been singing for as long as she can remember, at churches, functions and graduations. But it was after her graduation in 2009 that she made her first recording for Livup Records, titled “Ride or Die Chick“, a song which gave the industry into the passionate mind of a young adult pledging loyalty and support to her lover.
In the periods since, she has released several notable songs, including All Night, Roller Coaster Love, and the edgy but down to earth Cyaan Work. Yet Saine’s most positive reviews and public responses have come when she belts out soulful, haunting melodies such as in I’m Waiting and Love of My Life. Her latest single, Good Ova Evil, released in January 2014, demonstrates the depth of her emotion, her awesome vocal range and the versatility of her music. And most of these songs have been penned and composed by her, using one of her three (3) guitars, and giving rise to the moniker “Guitar Girl.”
Beyond writing and composing songs, Saine has had several interesting collaborations with major artistes such as Magazeen (“Backseat”), Khago (“Affi Smoke”), T’Nez (“Go with You”) and the fast-rising Xtreme (“Crazy Love Thing”). And she has added her distinct harmonies to help create hits for a range of billable artistes, including Aidonia, Deablo, Jah Vinci, Hezron and Nature. Her talent has been recognized by leading producers such as Federick Wright (Blackspyda Records), Robert Livingstone (Scikron Ent) and Blaqk Sheep Music.
Saine’s music is heartfelt and speaks volumes about her beliefs, experiences, passions and aspirations in a manner and sound not unlike Rihanna, Marcia Griffiths, Tessane Chin, or Alaine, who themselves provide much of the musical inspiration to someone who repeats as often as she gets the chance to, that she “..Lives and breathes music...”
The future beckons the fast tracking Saine “Guitar Girl” Rapley..
