Laurel Wright is the National Winner of the 30th Annual Texaco Country Showdown held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on January 27, 2012. Host of the Showdown, Leanne Rimes, presented Laurel with $100,000 and the title "Best New Act In Country Music."
Laurel started singing at age 4 in and around East Tennessee Churches. At age 10 she started playing the guitar and wrote her first song. At the age of 15 Laurel won the opportunity to perform a live show at Tootsie's Nashville out of more than 200 country artists and bands. Now, at the age of 18 Laurel has single handedly written more than 100 songs, of which several air on the nation's largest radio broadcast, country giant WIVK.FM and Renegade Radio Nashville. She has also performed at numerous venues with such artists as Kix Brookes, Sara Evans, Leanne Rimes, The Band Perry, Josh Thompson, Frankie Ballard, James Wesley, Blaine Larson, Troy Olsen and Katie Armiger, to name a few.
