After playing piano for five years and developing a growing sense of appreciation for songwriting, Joshua Thomas realized at the age of sixteen that he could sing. This sparked a change in his musical path. Upon discovering the ethereal music of Joni Mitchell, (and after their fated meeting in 2007) Thomas began his performing career. He lived in New York for two years, but ultimately settled in Philadelphia. In the summer of 2010 he released his first EP. Joshua appeared on NBC Philadelphia’s 10! Show, and started performing frequently in both Philly and New York. He recorded his first full-length album in spring of 2012, after successfully raising the funds to do so through a Kickstarter campaign. Thomas released 'Halfway' on June 12, 2012 under his birth name Josh Schurr, and promoted the release through a successful national summer tour. He is currently writing and beginning his next project, the first to be released under the name Joshua Thomas.
