Brian Camilleri / Bio

I'm from the Central Connecticut area and have been playing music since I was 6 or 7. I had classical training on woodwinds through private instruction for about about 8 years before switching to bass as a young teenager. Since then I have been in many bands throughout the state, playing and recording covers and originals in the tri-state area.

In my 20's I played full time 4-6 nights a week in a cover band called "Nickelslick", which ran until 1995. We did many styles of music over those years, beginnning with Top 40 and Lounge, moving to Disco and Funk and finally to Rock and Blues. During that run we opened for Sly & The Family Stone, The Grass Roots and James Montgomery.

After that I was involved in 2 projects of mostly original music. "Hard Reign" which became "Hard Attack" was a 5 piece 80's influenced rock band which did covers and also recorded some original music at the Power Station in New London, CT in the late '90s.

I also worked in a mostly original trio called "The Doane Emery Band". The music was an eclectic blend of Rock, Folk, Jazz, World, Jam and Reggae. We recorded an original CD in 1999-2000 and still get together for fun once in a while.

From 2007 to 2009 I was in a cover band called Dark Barbie. It was 3 guys and a girl and was based in Fairfield county. We did mostly older Rock/Pop/Dance tunes.

Currently I am involved in a few different projects. The first is a cover band by the name of 2012, doing 70's - present Rock and Pop tunes. We cover everything from Zeppelin, Heart, Benetar and Journey to Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Collective Soul.

My newest project is working with singer/songwriter Lucia Nazarro. She is very versatile and writes songs ranging from Pop, Dance and Rock to acoustic based ballads featuring piano and guitar. We play malnly cafes, coffeehouses and some songwriter showcases anywhere between Boston and NYC.

For gear, I play mainly MusicMan basses; a pre-Ernie Ball StingRay 4, an early 90's StingRay 5 and and my newest bass, a vintage re-issue StingRay 5. I also use a mid 1970's Fender Precision. Amps include an Aquilar DB751 and a vintage Galien-Kreuger 800RB. For cabs I still love running a Hartke XL410 and XL 115. I also have an Aquilar DB410.
