Name: D'zmon E James Wardlow
Artist Name: Young Royal
Hometown: El Paso, Texas
How did you get into music: As a wild fourth grader, my friends and I would always do things to impress everyone who came our way. Watching Bow Wow have girls all over him encouraged me to start rapping to become the one person that everyone would know and like. After the first few years of writing the thoughts and feelings that I kept hidden inside myself, I began making songs that people could dance to that was not about me. People began asking me to freestyle for them during lunch, which then brought rivals looking for me. I then knew that in order for me to win the respect of others, I had to push myself to the top rank of everything I set my mind to. The thought of someone being better than myself made me dedicate my life to becoming the best artist in the world.
How do you plan to contribute to Hip Hop, R&B, etc: I want to publish songs that people can relate to from love, discourage, life on the streets etc. The main goal that I have planned is to be able to touch every living soul in a way that would steer them into doing something creative rather than being on the streets shooting others, robbing banks and anything else reckless. I do not want people to look at me in comparison with Drake, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa or anyone else. When people mention my name, the first thing I want to go through everyone's mind is originality. When the day comes that I pass onto the afterlife, I want to be recalled the same way as Jesus has been through out each generation after my own.
Artist that influenced you: Bow Wow was the first artist to make me start writing. I always like the way R Kelly made people feel when he sung which contributed to myself writing R&B songs as a child. New artist such as Tyga, Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa make me feel like there is no limit to what I can express in my lyrics. Nick Carter Green has always played a key role in my development. He has taught me what and what not to do in order to attract new fans and promoters.
Who would you like to work with: To perform with Tyga would be a major accomplishment in my life. Tyga always caught my attention with his music from the originality that he shows to his delivery. During High School, when people heard me rap they would compare me to Tyga which made me feel like I was getting far with my work.
