Ben Joseph & The Lay-Lows / Bio

In a growing Gulf Coast music scene, Ben Joseph and The Lay Lows set themselves apart by dint of lead singer and guitar player Ben Joseph’s driving blues and boogie guitar riffs and his impassioned songwriting. Joseph grew up in Gulf Shores, Ala., and has played all along the Gulf Coast and into Tennessee while simultaneously completing his B.A. in Music Production and Entrepreneurship at the University of Alabama. His resume includes time spent playing in many bands such as the Tuscaloosa rock band The Golden Monica, co-founding Newgrass jam band Red Clay Revival, and working as an instructor for the Alabama Blues Project.
Ben Joseph and The Lay Lows’ latest album Two Tickets Please is aptly named. The album plays like a southeastern road trip finally coming to an end in Joseph’s New Orleans home of the past three years. Two Tickets Please is already receiving a warm welcome from leaders in the Gulf Coast music community as Laura Vendetti, founder of the Gulf Coast Blues Society, says it’s “one of the most played CD’s” in her entire collection. The album is defined by tracks like Where’s Your Faith, which signals the band’s dedication to the blues and rock and roll of the south but also demonstrates the ability to use traditional musical forms as a canvas on which they paint something uncompromisingly progressive.
You can find Ben Joseph and The Lay Lows performing throughout New Orleans and all along the Gulf Coast. Current projects include shooting a video for Miss Magnolia.
