Most of these guys are directly involved with the non-profit venue Music City Texas Theater in their hometown of Linden, Texas where they played on a regular basis through 2008 after the converted 1950’s American Legion Hall began operation in 2003. Three of the band’s members, Richard, Greg and John have been together since the band’s formation in the late ‘90’s. Pat joined in 2003 and Mark in 2007.
These guys aren’t newcomers. Collectively, there’s plenty of musical working history behind all of them including performing with artists Chuck Berry, Jackson Browne, Burrito Brothers, The Drifters, The Eagles, Don Everly, Freddie Fender, Dan Fogelberg, Stevie Nicks, Roger McGuinn, Pinkard & Bowden, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Sawyer Brown and Mike Wiggins & Loco just to name some of them.
These influences combined helped create their 2008 Foam Rubber Productions release “Rising Over Texas”, a CD that because of all of these same influences defies categorization. Most closely identified with the term Americana, the songs are rock ’n’ roll, country, R&B, gospel, comedy and even Latin. Listen to them all to get the full picture of what these guys really enjoy doing, and doing well. Richard Bowden with Moon & the Starz books concert performances in East and Central Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana with consideration given to the adjacent regions.
