Born and raised in Macon, GA, 17-year old singer & songwriter Jharee Stephens could perform almost from the time she could walk and talk. Surrounded by music as a child, she began to amaze her family and friends with her vocal ability. At the tender age of two, she called her father and sang over the phone, “My aunt called my father and I sang Deborah Cox’s “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here”, he couldn’t believe it was me.”
Influenced by the music of Aaliyah, Beyonce, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Pebbles and Chaka Khan, Jharee began entering singing competitions and talent shows around Georgia at the age of 13. However, it was at her cousin’s house while watching a Beyonce concert that she realized the stage is her home, “Singing makes me feel like anything is possible,” says Jharee. “Singing can give you so many feelings, but for me, singing makes me feel unstoppable.”
With her parents full support and the help of a family friend she began recording and finding her own sound. Jharee traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina to the SCMC music conference where she met A&R and record executive Fotemah (a.k.a. T’mah) who would bring her to the forefront. He immediately took her under his wing and partnered with her management team to develop and cultivate her talent.
Jharee exhibits a talent far beyond her years. She hits the stage with raw energy and pure talent that can captivate any audience. Her music exudes confidence and passion. There is no question that she was born to perform.
Take notice. A star is born.
